Engraving

Engraving has been the bride’s choice for hundreds of years. The beauty of engraving cannot be illustrated with the justice it deserves on the computer screen. You have to touch it to appreciate it. Its detailed lettering, with intense ink colors and sharp clear edges are unlike any other type of printing, especially on crisp 100% cotton paper.

A highly skilled craft dating back to the 16th century, engraving is the original form of raised printing. Your invitation wording is etched into a copper plate. Under tons of pressure, the paper is forced against the plate, slightly raising the surface of the paper, with the ink adhering to the raised surface. The result is finely detailed, raised letters with a slight indentation (fondly called the bruise) on the reverse side of the paper. Learn more about the art of engraving.

Thermography is also raised printing, but uses a different process. The lettering is flat printed and the ink is dusted with resin powder while still wet, then subjected to heat, forming a raised surface. This results in slightly shiny raised letters that sit on top of the paper.
