Typography Graphic Services Supervisor

Crane & Co., Inc., a premier manufacturer of fine stationery and currency papers, currently has an opening for a Typography Graphics Supervisor in the Graphic Services Department at Crane's Personal Design Services, located in North Adams. This position is on the second shift, with a schedule of 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The Graphic Services Supervisor is accountable for effectively supervising the daily operations of the Graphic Services Department which includes Order Management and Typesetting. This includes ensuring that all production quality standards are met, analyzing workloads, developing staffing plans to meet daily work order demands, aid trainer in developing training plans, training and instructing staff, establishing performance standards, monitoring and improving work quality, and establishing quality communication between other departments. The candidate will be required to work overtime as needed.


  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Supervise all aspects of the Graphic Services department with emphasis on departmental goals, safety, quality, and performance measures
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of typesetting and order entry systems, processes and procedures
  • Must be able to effectively manage over-time by balancing performance and budgetary goals
  • Advanced computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent typing skills with a high degree of accuracy (minimum 45 wpm)
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent command of the English language as it relates to spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Significant experience in pre-press functions including order processing and order management desired
  • Experience and background in supervision preferred
  • Knowledge of CDS products and practices
  • Ability to maintain a high-degree of confidentiality
