Process Excellence Deployment Leader / Quality Manager

This position is situated in Dalton and is responsible for:

  • Driving the new global process excellence program to enable employees to create positive change in their work environment with appropriate training and support;
  • Managing Quality Assurance Technicians, Quality Control testing, inspection and verification of conformance to customer requirements, as well as development and implementation of a six sigma quality program;
  • Carrying out Process Analysis projects to reduce start-up broke and improve manufacturing processes, resulting in reduced product variability and increased manufacturing efficiencies.

The successful individual must be a proven organizational leader who is both an advocate for and driver of continuous improvement as a natural part of the management process. This position will be expected to be a change agent with individual projects, a mentor and coach of team member projects and a driver to implement six-sigma and total quality systems for Technical Materials. Achieving a six-sigma process is a multi-year program that requires dedication, focus, and persistence. Responsibilities for this position include: managing the ongoing process improvement project portfolio, coordinating training as required within the business, supporting process sessions and prioritizing efforts to ensure engagement and traction, participation in the selection process for green belt candidates in the business, scoping of projects, cultivating engagement and buy in of management team, recruitment of the team, analyzing data and path forward execution, monitoring and implementation. Other key accountabilities include ensuring that customer requirements are understood, maintaining ISO procedures, modifying current QA testing and procedures, maintaining morale and efficiency of Quality Technicians, accompanying Product Managers on customer visits and assisting with implementation of new process equipment and new product trials.

Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. Degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others without formal authority while maintaining effective work relationships
  • Process Improvement training (Black Belt, LEAN), and extensive experience with deployment
  • Strong presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
  • Experience with change management
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop and implement new initiatives
  • Knowledge of ISO and other quality programs
  • Knowledge of instruments used in a QA laboratory
  • Managerial and human relations skills and experience; ability to manage independently
  • Experience in Statistical Process Control; statistical data and mathematical analysis skills
  • High level of computer literacy (PowerPoint, Excel); especially data manipulation in spreadsheet and database systems. Minitab statistical and process management software skills, SharePoint a plus
  • Problem solving ability
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Time management skills
  • Valid driver's license to attend Company meetings off-site or at other locations and/or technical seminars
