Applications Developer/Systems Analyst

Crane & Co., Inc., a premier manufacturer of fine stationery and currency papers, currently has an opening for an Applications Developer/Systems Analyst at Crane’s Personal Design Services, located in North Adams.

This position will be a key part of the technology group’s mission to support new business applications based on Visual Basic and ASP.NET technologies. The position will have responsibility for development and support of business-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in several information technology platforms and multiple business solution portfolios.

Responsibilities include creating new business applications and interfaces using ASP.NET as well as other languages and technologies; working with business partners to define and refine requirements; producing estimates, plans, and other systems development life cycle (SDLC) documents; participating in cross-functional business and technical teams; working with peers in areas of technical expertise; providing production support for the company’s application portfolio.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on technical development in Visual Basic and ASP.NET (VB.NET and C#).
  • Minimum of four years systems development experience or equivalent education experience
  • Strong fact finding, interviewing, problem solving and data analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work to fast-paced deadlines is essential.
  • Willingness to become proficient in the full range of technologies at Crane & Co. is a must.
  • Experience with XML and MS SQL strongly desired.
  • Experience with IBM iSeries, COBOL, RPG, and/or JD Edwards ERP is a plus.
