Anniversaries
While wedding anniversaries are observed every year, major celebrations are usually reserved for the twenty-fifth, fortieth, and fiftieth anniversaries. Formal invitations to wedding anniversaries should be engraved on letter sheets. You do not need to use black ink and may, instead, use silver for a twenty-fifth anniversary, red for a fortieth anniversary, and gold for fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Invitations to wedding anniversaries are usually extended by the couple's children and their spouses, but friends, grandchildren, and even the couple themselves may issue them as well. The years of their marriage may be shown at the top of the invitation. A line reading, "No gifts, please" may appear in the lower right-hand corner or, better yet, a card reading, "Your presence is the only gift we request" may be sent with the invitations. If reply cards are not being used, the reply information is given in the lower left-hand corner.
